Rollie Skreezlet

I first developed this character, when I was in college to be the ringmaster for Hampshire colleges very own straight edge/ hippy Criss-Cross Circus. I found the character to be liberating. It allowed me to interact with an audience and do things I wouldn’t otherwise do and say things I wouldn’t otherwise say. I discovered my genuine love for humans and human culture of all kinds which is part of the essence of the circus and the theater and being in a real place with real people. I carried the character along with me after the tour ended Hosting P-Town Has Talent for 5 years, Down & Dirty TV Show, The daggers band, Hosting Year Rounders fest, make your own boat race, The Roast of Deep Fried Eddie and Street Performing as Silver Skreezlet and then Garbage.Criss Cross Circus

Because embodying the character allowed me to access so much of my-self that wasnt otherwise available, I often wanted to escape permanently into that character’s life and lead it instead of my own. The character is a freewheeling, showboating, overzealous fiend and frankly that’s just not sustainable. It took me years of struggling to find the balance between my authentic, often-depressed self, and my manic, enthusiasm ridden self and realize that all of the good qualities that I associated with the character were I actually aspects of me.
